Water Polo Competition

Open Knockout Competition

Both the boys and girls open water polo teams did Henry Kendall High School proud in the knockout comp at Wyong on 7 and 8 March 2016.

The boys played really well against Gorokan with a win first up. Tom Cuthbert, Harrison Whitney and Mitchell Wood scored goals. Lewis Cavender, Carter Jones and Josh Goodey were great in defence and Aaron Bamforth, Tim Cuthbert, Kevin Poechhacker and Joel Naylor all did a great job in the pool against some really large senior students from the other schools, learning the game on the trott.

A special mention though to Lachlan Muir who played goal and defended exceptionally well. In our second game against Wyong HIgh, Tom and Harry scored goals again with Carter Jones popping one in too, although not quite enough to proceed.  Well done boys. Great job.

The girls also had one win against Gorokan and one loss to Kincumber. Everyone did well, especially our new Year 7 girls who had never played before but gave it a great go. Congrats to Sophie Hoyle, Sophie Mertens, Olivia Pearson and Charlotte Tucker for being brave enough for trying a new sport.

The day really belonged to Elyse Tully who scored 6 goals in the first game and went into goal for the second game. Congratulations also to Alix Mear for great defence and scoring 2 goals, and Caylyn Dumpert, Tayla Nadilo, Keeleigh Day for a great effort all over the pool. A special mention to Mae and Abbey Johnson who gave goal keeping a shot (and to Abbey who even scored a goal for the other team when she went to throw the ball and was too far back. But at least she wasn't sent out today!)

Well done to both the girls and boys teams. A great effort from our players. Well done from a very proud coach.

And to any other young swimmers who would like to try this great game, we have the Junior 15's and under matches in Term 4 and most of my players will be turning 16 so we will need a whole lot of newbies to give it a go. Listen out for the call up later this year.
