Boarding

It was wonderful to welcome everyone back to what will be an extremely busy Term 4. I hope everyone had a lovely holiday, but I know there were many boarders and their families who refused to rest and kept busy over the holidays.
I’m looking forward to Chloe Andersen, Isaac Hocking and Phoebe Russell returning from the National Hockey Championships in Tasmania so I can hear about all their achievements. Ally Gray and Bel Michelmore are also still away in Perth representing Victoria in the Nationals for Polocrosse. Georgia Hodgetts competed in the National Inter-School Equestrian Championships and after some narrow margins placed 13th out of 24 competitors from across the country. It is also lovely to see Georgia and April on the front page of the Weekly Times this week. Amy Steer competed in the Ladies’ Whip Cracking at the Deni Ute Muster and placed 6th overall. We were lucky enough to have a taste of the performance when Amy and younger sister Lucy practised on the Andersens’ lawn during the South-East SA Family Picnic.
Tyler Hateley was selected to represent the Western Bulldogs NGA teams. During the holidays this team played in the V/Line Cup Football Carnival which was held in Gippsland and they went through undefeated.
Congratulations to all these boarders and their achievements over the holidays.
I’d like to send a very big thank you to the Andersens for hosting a lovely South-East picnic and for all of the families who attended. It was an exquisite setting and a lovely opportunity to catch up with families from a region we value so highly.
We are all very excited to welcome five new students to our boarding community this term. Darcy and Jack Wall have seen the light and have moved from the day school to boarding. Their credibility in the playground has increased dramatically. We also have Trent Ng (Hong Kong), Airlie Treloar (Lucindale) and Cassie Drummond (Melbourne) who are new to the school. We are delighted that these wonderful young people have joined us.
