lord of the flies
Through our partnership with Arts Centre Melbourne’s First Call Fund and in collaboration with UK-based New Adventures & Re:Bourne some of our male students were able to attend workshops at Brunswick Secondary College for the production of Lord of the Flies. This professional production will stage next year in Melbourne, to be directed by Sir Matthew Bourne.
The workshops, run in after-school sessions earlier this term, provided development opportunities for those who may wish to audition to join the cast for the performance season.
We had a total of 30 male students from across Years 7 to 11 participate in what was a fun and inspiring dance-theatre experience for all. The students are encouraged to deepen their involvement and audition to be part of the full production in early April 2107, forming the Young Ensemble and joining professional dancers from the UK and Australia onstage in the 2,000 seat State Theatre.
Through the workshops held for the production season in the UK, many boys were inspired to continue to engage with Dance as an art-form as the project opened their eyes to possible opportunities in the field of Dance.

The workshops were a fantastic opportunity to experience dance for the first time. I have not done dance before this and now I really like dance. I didn’t realise there were so many different types of dance in the arts. I also liked learning the first section of the actual production.
