message from the principal

We are entering the final but very productive weeks of the year.  Our current Year 11 students have just completed their Headstart Program for 2017 VCAL and VCE Programs and our Year 10 students will complete their Headstart Program this week.  I congratulate the students on the way they have approached these two weeks - I have received many positive comments from teachers and students and the scene is set for a positive start to 2017. Students will now have a manageable amount of homework to complete over the holiday period.

Our Year 12 students and any Year 11 students who completed a Unit 3 and 4 subject this year will receive their results on Monday 12 December.  We wish them well and hope we see them before the end of the school year to both congratulate them and provide advice, should they seek it.  Catherine Jones (BSC Careers Counsellor) will be available to students and families.

We enjoyed welcoming our 2017 Year 7 families to an Information Night last week and look forward to hosting the students for Orientation Day on Tuesday 6 December.  At the Information Night we spoke about the choice of 2017 device, which is the Microsoft Surface Pro.  This device is available for students in any year level to purchase if they would like to.  Please check Newsfeed for further information on the device and the ordering process.

This week families will receive an email confirming their son/daughter’s 2017 subjects. Along with this email will be attachments outlining the Department of Education’s Parent Payment Policy and the outline of Brunswick Secondary College Essential Charges and Elective Subject payments.

We hope to have the builders selected for our major building project by the end of the year.  The first phase of the building project will be maintenance on A block and the construction of our new building which will include a new canteen and Food Studies kitchens/classrooms.  This new building will be situated between the library and the F block and should be complete by October 2017.
