Physical Education

Softball. It's just like cricket but with a rounder bat and a bigger ball.

What Sporty things we have been doing.....

F/1's Have been exploring boundaries and rules to different games.  They have been developing their movement and spacial awareness skills, when moving in an area together.  We have also explored ways that we show Care in sport and the effects that pour actions have on one another.

2/3's Have been taking part in team building games, working on how we can communicate in small groups effectively towards a common goal.  How do we show care for others when making our plan to solve each problem.  The kids really enjoyed these activities and tried to get the best times on each challenge

4-6's Have also taken part in more complex team building activities with a focus on collaboration.  Each group also provided the opportunity for students to be a leader of their group and guide their communication as to how they would solve each problem.

In our second week we have commenced Softball clinics with a Vic qualified coach to build our skills for interschool sport.

4-6 Interschool Sport - Fridays

Interschool sport has finally taking place at Newlands Primary School and our kids are loving it :)

This terms sports are Basketball, Bat Tennis and Softball.  The kids have chosen a sport for the whole term (with priority given to grade 6 students).  They have had 2 practice sessions ready for our first game against Coburg PS this week.

This will continue each Friday for the whole term with a mixture of games at home or away at other schools.  Games take place from 11:30am -1:30pm .  (See term fixtures below).  Parental support or just coming down to watch their games would be great :)

Meet and Greet Day Thursday 5th March- Tabloid Sports/Soccer and African Drumming performance

F-3 Students will take part in Tabloid Sports rotations earning points for their house by showing our school values.  This will be organised and run by our lovely House Captains.

4-6 Students will take part in a house soccer competition run by our sport leaders where each house will have 2 teams that play against each other for 2 games.

This will take place during Meet and Greet sessions with parents.

The kids will also take part in African Drumming Performances for another rotation on the day.
