Selfless Silence fundraising and Mission Liturgy

At this time of year, Junior School students and families show their incredible energy and generosity by fundraising for our local, national, and global partners in the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice. Over the last ten years this has raised over a quarter of a million dollars! This year, as in previous years, we have committed to a morning of Selfless Silence in support of our fundraising efforts. This means that lessons will take place as normal – but in silence. This small personal sacrifice and the many small challenges it presents helps to remind us of the many big challenges our fundraising partners overcome every day in the good work they do.

In place of our annual Junior School Mission Mass, we celebrated an online Mission Liturgy simultaneously in our own classrooms to launch our fundraising efforts. In this, we committed ourselves to standing in solidarity with all those who promote the work of mission around the world – including our local partner St Edmund's, our national partner Catholic Mission, and our global partner Chetanalaya in India.

Year 5 2022 Orientation

Many events have moved online in 2021, and unfortunately Year 5 Orientation Day is one of those events. Nevertheless, this is an exciting and important time for our incoming students and families, so I ask and encourage you to hold them in your prayers this week leading up to this Saturday. Sadly, these folks won’t have the experience of being led around our beautiful campus by the always impressive student volunteers, or of hearing the wonderful musical ensembles perform, or of feeling the warmth and welcome of the Parents’ and Friends’ volunteers’ hospitality, but I am sure a virtual welcome (including a message from the new Director of Junior School, Mr Stephenson) will help them as they prepare to join our College.

Year 5 Students of the Fortnight

The most recent Year 5 Student of the Fortnight Award recipients are:

  • Xavier Brogan

  • Xavier Lima
  • Sebastiano Costa-Puntillo
  • Emilio Cotroneo
  • William Gibson.

Congratulations to all these boys!

God bless,

Altar Servers 2022

All Year 5 students are invited to apply for an Altar Server position in 2022. Application forms can be collected from Mrs Tatola and need to be returned by Wednesday 10 November.

Term 4 Fundraising

This week, all Junior School students received a sponsor sheet for our Term 4 Fundraising initiative. Students are seeking sponsors for our Selfless Silence morning which will take place on Thursday 18 November. On this day, boys will take a vow of silence for two hours as they go about their normal school day. It will provide an opportunity for reflection, whereby students can consider the needs of people who are supported by our charity partners: Catholic Mission, St Edmund’s Wahroonga and Chetanalaya. Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
