Y6 Transition News

The Year 6 students have begun their transition program, beginning to explore and understand the changes between primary and secondary school.
They were fortunate enough to have a past student Matilda come and speak to them about her transition to secondary school. The students have been discussing what their understanding of secondary school is and their feelings towards the change.
Matilda allowed the students to understand that all of their feelings and curiosity is normal and gave them insight into what actually happens when you move schools. Some of their insights gained are below.
“High school doesn’t need to be too stressful or scary, it is just a small upgrade from primary school.” -Mason
“The work isn’t that much harder than primary school, St Columba’s prepares you well for the academic expectations of secondary school.” -Georgia
“Making friends happens pretty easily, the majority of people are really good.” -Daniel
“Being organised is key for a good transition and having a good time at secondary school.” -Anton
