Success for Aitken students in their applications to Tertiary Early Offer Programs for commencement at University in 2022
For 2022 entry, a number of Universities offered students in Year 12 the option of applying for their courses with the combination of an early offer application and an application to VTAC. Successful applicants were made a conditional early offer for a course of their choice at a particular University. The offer is confirmed if the student successfully completes the VCE, meets any course prerequisites and, sometimes, achieves a minimum ATAR (which is lower than the ATAR needed by other applicants for the same course).
Year 12 students at Aitken applied for the VU Guaranteed (VUG) Program offered by Victoria University, The Aspire Program (La Trobe University), the ACU Guarantee Program (ACU), the RMIT Early Offer Program (RMIT) and the Swinburne Early Offer Program (Swinburne University). The process for each application was different, with institutions using a variety of selection strategies including, but not limited to, considering community service / volunteering experience or Year 11 results or recommendations from teachers and so on.
Aitken College student outcomes for these programs were very successful - 48 students received a VUG offer, 34 an Aspire offer and 4 a Swinburne offer. Unfortunately, although we know some students were also successful in being offered a place at ACU and RMIT, we do not know how many students experienced success or who they were. If you are happy to share your success with Careers staff, we would be delighted to hear from you. Having this information helps enormously with the end of year counselling of students when results are released and Change of Preference occurs.
Congratulations to all our students who received an early conditional offer. This is a fantastic outcome and you should feel very proud. We hope you achieve the ATAR required (if applicable), satisfactorily complete your VCE and any prerequisite requirements and / or selection tasks.
Payment of VTAC fee
Many students have already paid their VTAC processing fee of $42. Well done! If you have not yet paid please make a payment by the start of December. The $42 covers the initial application fee, as many changes of preference as you need / want and a printed ATAR statement in the mail after your Results are released. If the fee is not paid, VTAC withdraws you from the VTAC system and you are not then eligible for an offer for a course for 2022.
Change of Preference Pack
Next week, Change of Preference packs will be posted home to all Year 12 students from the Careers team. Please keep your eye on the letterbox for the arrival of your pack.
