Celebrating our terrific Twos!
Over the past 2 weeks, the Grade 2's have been learning about division. The students completed an activity where they had to do some investigation using one number of spikes. Using that one number they worked their way through sharing the spikes with different numbers of echidnas. As a group, we noticed some patterns, the more echidnas we had, the less spikes each echidna got. We also got to work with remainders, as we all know division means always sharing fairly. Awesome work Grade 2's!
The Grade 2's have been learning about narratives. Last week the students did a big focus on character development. We discussed what characters might look like, their personality traits and what feelings they might have throughout a story. The students then went on to create their own characters. Darius created an amazing, scary bear to be the main character in his story.
We have been learning all about division in Grade 2!
For this activity, students used play dough and match sticks to create echidnas. We used the matchsticks to equally share the amount of spikes between the animals.
Then, we wrote the maths sum to match. It was great fun!
