Summer Sport

As we reach the end of Term 3 we have been informed that the Independent Sporting Association (ISA) have taken the decision to delay the start of the Summer Season until Term 1 2022.  This is as a result of the late return of students in Term 4 as set down by the NSW Government “Roadmap out of lockdown”.  With the main body of senior school students not on site until 8 November it was decided that pursuing competition in Term 4 was untenable.

The College will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and its impact on both Community and School Sport in NSW.

We are investigating opportunities for intra-school sport late in Term 4 and are aware that Cricket NSW are pushing for an earlier return to sport than is currently gazetted. The College will continue to adapt our sports programs in line with Government advice with our first priority being the Health and Welfare of the College Community and the wider NSW community.

Congratulations to 1st XV Co-Captain Zachary Davidson

Congratulations to Year 12 student Zachary Davidson who has been selected to represent Australia in the 2021 Australian Schoolboys ‘A’ Team.

Since 1969 the Australian Schools’ Rugby Union has selected Australian Schoolboy teams to play other nations both in Australia and overseas. The title of Australian Schoolboy is synonymous with players of high rugby skill and outstanding personal character. This year due to COVID-19, no games will be played however the merit side was named.

Zachary plays scrum half in the St Pius X College 1st XV where he was Co-Captain in 2021. He was selected in the ISA 1st XV, playing matches against Combined High Schools and AAGPS. From these matches, Zac was selected in the NSW Schools side, however COVID-19 prevented any further games. Australian Schools Rugby Union selectors then named a two Merit Teams on Friday 10 September, where Zachary was chosen in the Australian 'A' Team.

Zac epitomises the benchmark of what it takes to be an Australian Schoolboy Rugby Player, "players of high rugby skill and outstanding personal character".

The SPX Rugby Community are so proud of Zac’s efforts and wish him all the best in his future rugby endeavours.
