Student Voice, Leadership and Agency: SRC

Student Voice, Leadership and Agency: SRC

On 15th March VIC SRC came to our school to run a workshop for the new GEC SRC initiative. At this workshop we learnt about intersectionality and what our role is at GEC. The VIC SRC leader, Keisha Healy, helped us to understand student voice, leadership and agency through a range of activities including putting ourselves on a physical spectrum of understanding. It was very enlightening to hear and share our different views from the SRC members. We realised that our fellow students are not all equally represented, for example if a student is shy or doesn’t like speaking they may not tell a teacher or an SRC member about their beliefs or their troubles with the school. This year the SRC of GEC have made it our goal to fix this problem and make sure that as many students as possible can have their voices heard. We would like to thank VIC SRC for coming to our school and helping us create a path for what we want to see at GEC this year.
