Year 9 Dance

Year 9 Dance

The Year 9 Dance class ventured off to see Top Class Dance at the Elizabeth Murdoch Hall. For most students it was the first excursion post COVID 19, so it was amazing to be able to get out an about and mingle in the city. The purpose of this excursion was to view a performance of high achieving students who received an A+ for their VCE or VET solo dance performances in 2021.

Present were some of the assessors of the 2021 performance solos, who in between each item would talk about why and how they got here, and what stood out in their performances. With various styles of dance including musical theatre, jazz, ballet, hip hop and tap, it was very engaging, which our students thoroughly enjoyed.

This excursion showed us the places dance can take us. It displayed what the next step is if we choose to continue dance through VCE. This excursion had us go into the city to Top Dance, where we watched the A-grade VCE and VET dance solos. The well-choreographed and carefully planned performances made them fun and enjoyable to watch. They gave us inspiration and motivation to continue dance as a more serious subject. They also allowed us to see how far VCE and VET courses can take us.
