How well do you

know our staff?

This week we learn a little about Vicki and Ryan.

Vicki Stirling

How long have you been teaching/working in schools?

I started at St. Joseph's in 2005 as an LSO (Learning Support Officer). I realised I loved working in primary education so, while working at St. Joseph's, I starting an education degree through UTAS.

In 2013 I qualified as a teacher and in 2014 I was lucky to become the teacher of my first class; in the 1/2 area.

Current Roles and responsibilities

This year I am working in the 3/4 space as a classroom teacher.

I am the IT leader (elearning) and Data and Assessment.

What do you love about working at St Joseph’s?

I have loved working with the students in different year levels over the years and have watched the families and their siblings go through St Joseph's.

St Joseph's has a lovely community feel and I enjoy seeing families outside our school.

Interests/passions outside of school

My interests are my family and friends and WALKING!!

I love looking after my great nephews and nieces whenever I can!

Family

My family are my husband Duncan and my two children Abby and Sam.

Abby works as a teacher in the UK and Sam is a plumber.

My extended family all live in the Rye area which is lovely for catch ups.

Ryan Robinson

How long have you been teaching/working in schools?

I began teaching in 1999 at St Mary's Primary School in the town of Sea Lake. The school had 51 students and 2 teachers. I moved to the Peninsula in 2000. Wow! That means I've been teaching for 23 years. Time flies when you're having fun.

Current Roles and responsibilities

I teach science from Prep - 6. I work with small groups of students in the 3/4 and 5/6 Learning Spaces in Mathematics and reading. I also work with the Year 6 Robotics Team.

What do you love about working at St Joseph’s?

I have always been extremely fortunate to have worked with amazing people at St. Joseph's. It is these friendships, past and present, that contribute to an enjoyable workplace.  I love the fact the past parents and students will always stop and have a chat when passing by in the street, sometimes even sharing a cold beveridge at the Sorrento Hotel.

We certainly are a tight knit community in a very unique coastal setting.

Interests/passions outside of school

My number one interest/passion is cycling. I certainly don't have the drive to compete anymore, however I do love the social side of cycling and the friendships I've made riding with groups from Mornington, Rye and Sorrento. A cycling trip to northern Italy is not too far away.

Family

I am the oldest of 3. My parents and my younger brother live in Ballarat, therefore I do spend some time in Ballarat catching up with them. My sister lives on a dairy farm in the Western Districts.
