Principal's Report

It’s spring!

What a great start to the week! Thanks to the Year 1 team for a brilliant assembly on Monday morning. A great mix of music, maths and minibeasts and finishing off with our aerobics student’s wonderful performance!

I appreciate the teachers taking the time and effort to put this together with the students.

Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey

One parent from each family will have received an email by now with an invitation to participate in our Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey.  Please follow the instructions and utilise the PIN in the email to access the survey.  I appreciate your time to give us feedback about our school.

Homework

At LPS we worked alongside School Council to establish our homework policy and guidelines.  These were reflective of what DET policy states. However, many of our students play various sports, participate in a variety of activities in after school hours.  It is imperative that we always ensure our students get to have 'downtime' and be able to rest and rejuvenate for the next day.

This means that if at any time homework is becoming too much for your child or a strain on your family’s circumstances, I encourage you to work with your child’s teacher to develop a homework plan.  A homework plan is a plan that will outline what your child’s expectations look like each week taking into consideration the other activities and sports that they are involved in during their busy week.

Uniform

It is hat season!  Students must wear a hat outside and on excursions. Those without a hat will not be able to attend excursions or play in uncovered areas.

Staffing

As you are aware filling staff vacancies in schools at the moment is incredibly tough.  This includes short-term and long-term positions. Rest assured, we do everything possible to try to fill positions that arise however there are times we just cannot fill them.  I appreciate our tutoring team, Georgia Ryan and Rachelle Kregor doing their best to help us out by cancelling their programs to take grades on days we cannot get fill in teachers.  This will remain an ongoing problem for all schools into the near future.

R U Ok?

Today is R U OK? Day. It’s a welcome reminder to check in on those we are closest to.  We can never 'make' someone open up however, these words may just be the beginning of an important conversation.  So perhaps give a friend a call that you haven’t spoken to in a while or even visit for a cuppa. Who knows? It may just be what is needed.

Father’s Day Stall

Thanks to the PFA for running a successful stall for Father’s Day.  It is much appreciated.  No doubt the dads and special people in our children’s lives enjoyed their presents.  A far cry from the second-hand comb I bought my dad when I was in Year 1.

See you at the musical!
