Work Experience for Year 10's
Next term our year 10 students will have the opportunity to participate in work experience. Work experience is an exciting important part of career planning for students. The benefits of doing work experience include:
- Better understanding of the work environment and what employers expect of their workers.
- An opportunity to explore possible career options.
- Increased self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence.
- Increased motivation to continue study and/or undertake further training.
- Better understanding of how the school curriculum can help prepare young people for work.
- An introduction to workplace recruitment practices.
- Enhanced opportunities for part-time and casual employment.
- Opportunity to include the employer’s work experience evaluation in future job and course applications.
Our work experience week is scheduled to take place the week of the 5-9th of December.
More information will be released early in the new term, but we encourage students to start searching for a placement over the break. Students have been encouraged to start with their own network. This could include
- friends
- friends’ parents
- parents’ friends
- known people in the neighbourhood
- sporting coaches
- community leaders
It also includes people from the school such as teachers, tutors and career coordinators.
