A Message from Our Student Representative Council (SRC) President

Hello, my name is Tara Cudmore and I’m the 2023 Student Representative Council President.

I am excited to announce some of the fun things we have been doing for our school as well as some activities we have coming up.

The SRC have been working hard on multiple activities recently! We have allowed for students to access and complete our School Uniform Survey, which outlines some different aspects of the uniform which students may want to see change in. In the near future, we will also be opening up the survey for both parents and teachers to complete. We hope to see all of your responses to help with the possible changes in our uniform.

We want to thank everyone who contributed towards out swimming carnival barbeque. We had raised an astounding amount of just under $1,000. Thank you to all the students and teachers had helped out with the managing of the barbeque as well!

Our athletics carnival is coming up within the next week, and we are hoping to see all of the students dressing up in their house colours (there may even be some fun prizes to win for best dresses)! We will also have our barbeque open, with a variety of items to buy, as well as a chocolate egg jar competition, where students have to guess the amount of chocolate eggs in the jar! The student who guesses the exact amount (or the closest too) wins the jar!

An exciting new activity coming to Pakenham Secondary next term is our Colour Run! Students will be able to participate in a colour run at the beginning of next term. There will be more information regarding this coming out soon!

I hope you all have some fun with these upcoming activities and events and have a safe holidays!!

GRIP Leadership Conference

On the 29th of March, a small group of students from the Student Representative Council attended the GRIP Leadership Conference in Melbourne. The students, Yasmin Lambrinos, Lauren Cudmore, Josh Dimalanta and Zarhi Koppel, ventured into the city via train to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre where they joined several other schools from around Melbourne in learning valuable leadership skills.

The Conference was incredibly fun and informative, and the students not only learned some useful skills that they can employ this year in the SRC, but they also made some new friends and had an amazing day. The Conference included several workshops where students learned how to make other students feel valued, how to get everybody on board with a new idea and how they can make school a great place for everybody.

Futurist Presentation

A group of students from all year levels attended the 'Futurist Presentation' by Stephen Sammartino today at Cardinia Cultural Centre, with our Assistant Principal, Ms Chandler and our SRC Coordinator, Ms Titcombe.

Stephen is Australia's leading Futurist and International keynote speaker. He is one of Australia’s most respected futurists and business technologists. A born entrepreneur, he had his first startup at age 12 - an organic egg farm before the words "organic" or "startup" had been invented!

Extreme projects are something Stephen loves doing, in order to demonstrate what is possible today. He knows how to generate attention in the modern age of marketing with a number of his viral videos to his name. He recently built a full-size driveable Lego car from 500,000 pieces. It has an engine made completely from Lego, and it runs on air.

A media commentator on technology and the future, Stephen is a regular on the ABC and provides expert assessment on the rapidly evolving technology sector. He has also been featured on the BBC, The Smithsonian Institute, The Discovery Channel, Mashable, Wired, The LA times, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and even had documentaries made about his projects.

Stephen's presentation today was to provide energy and knowledge for our future thinkers and leaders, so that they can be excited about what is possible for them. The attending students were most impressed with the presentation!
