Senior School News
We are very proud of the start our Senior School students have made to their learning in 2023. Many of our students are embracing the learning opportunities available to them such VET courses and Sporting events while maintaining their effort in the classroom. The Staff Mentor program has begun with our Year 12 students. Each Year 12 students has been assigned a staff member that will meet with them fortnightly to track their progress, discuss additional supports as required and their plans for 2024 and beyond.
Our SWEL lessons have been designed to provide relevant information and opportunities to build skills that will assist students in their final years of school and in the broader community. So far students have been involved in sessions related to tertiary course search and the selection process, management of time commitments and preparation for Work Experience. Our Year 11 students have been run their first peer mentor sessions with students in Year 8 students. It was exciting to see the Year 11 exhibit their leadership abilities and foster relationships with the younger cohort.
Over the next few weeks many students will be sitting their first School Assessed Coursework (SACs) for each of their subjects. To support students some staff are running additional study sessions outside of class time. We encourage students to take up these opportunities and reach out for help if they need it. A reminder that if a student is absent on the day of SAC, they must provide a medical certificate to the Senior School Team. Students will then be allocated to the next SAC Redemption session to sit the missed SAC. These will generally take place on Tuesday afternoons, 3:10- 4:10pm.
There are a number of exciting events planned for our Senior School students in 2023 as listed below. Please remember to check Compass to provide consent and payment. More information about each of these events will be provided throughout the year.
