Mentoring Program

Year 10 mentoring success!

Recently ten wonderful Year 10 students attended Year 7 camp in a newly formed mentoring role. Throughout their time at the camp, these students took initiative, demonstrated leadership, fantastic communication skills, empathy, compassion and commitment. We received many comments following the camp from year 7 parents who commended the year 10 students on the leadership and support they provided.

I feel like this camp experience was really enjoyable; getting to know all the year 7s and watch them have such a good time and making friends. I found it was also a great feeling knowing that they will adjust to high school life feeling like they have someone who they can look up to and talk to. I also found that I really connected with the year 7s. I would recommend to year 9s next year to take this opportunity, it felt like a real achievement.

When I went on year 7 camp my main focus was helping the year 7s adjust to high school life. I’m so glad that when they came back that they felt comfortable enough to come up and ask me any question they like. I’m also glad that I was there to watch and help them make lifelong friends. To all the year 10s next year I would highly recommend going. It is a very fulfilling and lovely experience that will help both you and them.

As one of the ten year 10s that got selected to participate in mentoring on year 7 camp I found the experience exciting and fun. As a person that doesn’t necessarily associate with younger kids it was really enjoyable. The year 10s got to connect with the year 7s and help them with whatever they needed. And having friends to rely on for help and just to talk to was great. I’m sure that all the year 10s made at least a few friends with the year 7s. Overall the experience over the three days was very memorable and I will certainly help the year 7s when they need.

We thank the following year 10 students for the outstanding role they played on camp and for demonstrating the College Values so comprehensively:
