House Swimming Carnival

Last Monday our first sporting event of the year, the House Swimming Carnival, took place at Aquarena in Doncaster. We had a lot of excited and nervous students, some of whom were competing for the first time. This year was very different in that we shared the pool with another school also running their Carnival. In the end this turned out to be not too much of a problem.

Our students competed enthusiastically throughout the day and in the end the final points results were:

1st Place: Brackenbury 164 points

2nd Place: Forbes 145 points

3rd Place: Anderson 108 points

4th place: Yarra 58 points

Congratulations Brackenbury!

From our house sports a District team is selected to represent Warrandyte primary at the District swimming to be held back at Aquarena on Monday 20th February.

Congratulations to these 19 students and please remember your towel, goggles, hat, snack and water bottle for the day.

Winners from District will go on to compete at the Division finals.

Hockey Clinics

First term is usually a very busy term with sporting clubs wanting to visit schools and run free clinics to encourage students to come and join their club.

Our students were lucky enough to have two members of the Doncaster Hockey Club come out to us last Thursday and run clinics for our Grade Prep-4 students. All students had fun and were taught the skills through minor drills.

Interschool Sport

Next Thursday 23rd February morning will be our first Interschool match against Templestowe Park. We have a softball, rounders, cricket and bat tennis team competing. It is a Home game for us meaning softball and cricket will walk down to Warrandyte Reserve and bat tennis and rounders will play at school.

Parents are welcome to come and watch.

Our bat tennis team does not have a coach, if there is a parent who is available and would like to help out with this team please let me know.

Students are to wear Warrandyte sport uniform (sport top and navy shorts, skirt or track pants), have a hat and a water bottle.
