Year 9 Animal Science excursion with Ms. Lynch
The year 8's are learning about the human body. Ms Lynch's class learnt about the excretory system by dissecting a kidney. All students were able to identify the key structures needed to filter blood and produce urine.
The year 8's had a fun experiment using chocolate, coffee, oats, water and orange juice to mimic the gastrointestinal tract. Students began the journey at the mouth and ended with the waste being passed as feces onto the newspaper!
In the year 9 Animal Science elective, students have been learning about animal behaviour and enrichment. During this time students have made a food-based enrichment toy for their pets at home. Here are some happy Guinea pigs enjoying their treats!
Students in the Year 9 Animal Science elective were given a behind the scenes tour of the Mildura Veterinary Hospital. Students enjoyed getting to see anesthetics, patients in hospital, the x-ray room, and a very cute rescue kitten 😸 thank you Mildura vets and Dr. Alex for your tour.
