Capital Works Program
As communicated by email, there's been a flurry of activity at the College recently with the arrival of the builders site offices and fencing off I-Block which will undergo refurbishment to be re-purposed into a VCE Centre.
For those of you who are new to our college community, these works are part of the broader Capital Works Program which is funded by a $12.93m budget allocation from the State Government. The full program of works will include:
- The redevelopment of I-Block into a VCE Centre
- A brand new Admin and Wellbeing Building
- A refurbishment of the Year 7 Learning Centre
- A new cluster of relocatable buildings
- New basketball and netball towers, and significant landscaping.
What this means for students over the next couple of months is that no classes will be timetabled in I Block and we’ve created additional learning spaces in B Block and the Library during the works to accommodate classes. We have also had to make use of our technical learning spaces for some non-technical classes and have limited this to just VCE classes with class sizes under 20 students.
This change to the timetable took effect from Tuesday 14th March.
Students with their locker attached to the external walls of I Block will still be able to access them during the works – the works are entirely internal refurbishments in this current phase.
For those students who ride or scooter to school, the Bike Rack is being relocated from the front of the school (near the flag poles) to the outdoor undercover area between F0 and F1 at the Willowbank Road side of the school. This move will be made this Saturday so there is no interruption to use by students.
There is currently no change to visitor parking access for families.
There might be some disruption as we all adapt to the changes in our environment, but this is an exciting time for the College so hopefully the outcome makes it worthwhile. I will continue to provide updates to our College community as and when appropriate via this newsletter.
