Life Education Incursion

On Monday the 13th of February, the foundation students were visited by the Life Education team.  They loved their Life Education session, particularly meeting the renowned Harold The Giraffe. The children participated in the Harold’s Friend Ship module, eagerly and actively contributing in the 60 minute session.

FSR learnt about how you can make new friends by introducing yourself, asking questions and finding things you have in common with other people.  Many people in FSR liked watermelon, swimming and the colour blue.

FKJ learnt about the importance of facial expressions to allow other people to understand how you are feeling.   FKJ found that big smiles make you look friendly and welcoming.  Below are just a couple of examples of all the different facial expressions that they practiced.

FSR discussed different things in their life, which help make them feel safe and comfortable.  They then drew pictures of these things.  Many students drew family members, their new friends and their favourite soft toys.

At the end of the session, our foundation students got to have one last meeting with Harold the Giraffe. We were all very excited to meet the famous Harold.

Our Life Education Session complements our current In Our Community Integrated Curriculum topic, and addressed the two essential questions:

  • How can I be a good friend to people in my community?
  • How can I be safe and seek help at school or in an emergency?
