INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

YEAR 3 - 6

This term, students in Grade 3-6 have been exploring the unit, ‘What’s it worth?’.Throughout the term students have learnt:

  • What money is used for and its value
  • Income vs Expenses
  • The difference between needs and wants
  • Profit and Loss
  • Ways to make money - Goods and service
  • How a market stall should look and different stalls around the world

To celebrate their learning and put everything into action, students will be creating goods or providing a service at their very own mini markets. All of the money raised will be going to ‘Food Bank’ charity.

On Monday 12th December @ 12.45pm we will be inviting students from Prep – 2 to visit our markets, and purchase goods or services. If students would like to purchase goods or services, we ask that they bring a small amount of money to school. We ask that they bring coins as we will not have large amounts of change. Goods and services will range from 50c to $5.

Parents of students in grade 3-6 are also invited to join the markets from 1pm to see the students achievements and their markets in action!

Grade 1 Excursion

On Monday, November 14th the Grade 1s went on an excursion to the Koorie Heritage Trust and walked along the Birrarung Marr. They learnt about the 5 different nations which make up the Kulin Nation and about important celebrations and traditions of the indigenous people. The Grade 1s made connections with their own traditions and celebrations. We even had two grade 1s take action from our excursion! Gabriella created her own possum cloak, an important garment which grows with a person from their birth to adulthood. Will took his own family back to the river and shared what he learnt from the excursion.
