INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

NEW STAFF

I would like to welcome Terena Harrison, Kara Merrin, Nadia Lindop, Keanan Van Hees and Kate Cooper, who will be joining our staff at South Melbourne Park next year. We are thrilled to have them on board and know that each new staff member is very excited to meet the community. I would also like to let you know that Maestra AnneMcKelvie will be retiring in 2023. We are in the process of recruiting a new Spanish teacher. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please direct them to recruitment online. Anne has graciously agreed to teach Spanish for term one, until we have a replacement in place, so we’ll save our farewells until then. More staffing news to come in the next newsletter.

CLASSES FOR 2023

The year level structures will not change for next year, with all P-2 students in straight grades and 3/4s and 5/6s in composite classes. Our staff have worked tirelessly over a number of months to develop structures and classes which address many complexities, keeping our kids at the heart of decision making.  The students will meet their new teacher and classmates on Tuesday, 13th December and will bring home a letter outlining who their new teacher will be. I will provide an overview of structures in the next newsletter.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

As you know, we have a professional practice day on Monday, 19th December. On this day, our current staff and some new staff will be planning the learning program for Term 1, 2023. On this day, we will also be making significant room changes requiring a major shift of furniture. To prioritise time for planning, I’m reaching out to our families to help with the move. If you are available to help, even just for a couple of hours, please add your name, email and mobile number to the Parent Helper Schedule. Can I ask, though, that you do not bring your children as there will be no supervision and it will pose a safety risk, given the movement that needs to happen. I totally understand that this will rule lots of families out. If you think you can coordinate the move, please add ‘coordinate’ to your name. I can then meet to handover.

TICKET OFFER – FINA WORLD SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS

As I mentioned in the previous newsletter, the FINA world short-course championships begin on the 13th the 15th December. By using SCHOOL10 via the ticketek platform for any Heats event Tuesday to Friday, families can unlock a $10 ticket, please see attached image on how to apply the code.
