From the Principal

We are quickly reaching the conclusion of our school year and there are still plenty of exciting things to happen before we 'switch off' for our holidays.

Statewide 'Up Day'

Next Tuesday (13th December) we have our 'Up Day' as part of our whole school transition program. This will be an exciting day for all our students. They will have the opportunity to spend the morning in their 2023 grade and new teacher. As I have previously raised in our school newsletter, it is really important that you speak positively with your child about this opportunity. They will have at least one friend from their preference form that you completed with them earlier in the term. I will re-iterate that a massive amount of time has been spent creating all our grades for next year and the needs of all students carefully considered.

Staffing for 2023

After our Up Day on Tuesday, I will inform you all about our staffing changes for 2023. There are a number of new faces to welcome and I look forward to sharing this news with everyone next week.

Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony

Our Grade 6 students are almost at the end of their primary school journey at Langy Park. They have all been busily preparing for their Graduation Ceremony which is on Thursday night. I can't wait to share this special occasion with them and their families.

Parent Helper Morning Tea

Next Thursday we have our parent helper morning tea. This is just a very small gesture to thank all our parent and carers who provided assistance in different ways across the year.

Final School Assembly

Our final school assembly will be next Friday at 2pm. This is always a huge assembly. There will be:

  1. Presentation of term award winners
  2. Official farewell of our current Grade 6 students
  3. Announcement of our 2023 Grade 6 student leaders

We hope you can join us for this special assembly.

2023 Grade 6 Student Leaders

Earlier this week, the Principal Class Team was fortunate enough to sit down with some of our aspiring Grade 6 student leaders for next year. For the election of our 2023 Grade 6 student leadership roles, our Grade 5 students have been put through a very thorough 'real world' experience. They have written an application outlining their leadership qualities. They then have also done a speech in front of their peers and some selected to interview with the Principal Class Team.

As a result of this process a very difficult decision will be made on who our school captains, SRC leaders, house captains and specialist leaders will be.

We are very fortunate to have some outstanding candidates. The leaders will be decided based on what they presented through this process and the prior knowledge our teachers have of them. Like it is in any work place, the gender of a candidate will not be a factor in deciding who receives a leadership role.

Semester 2 School Reports

Your child's Semester 2 school report will be published to the Sentral Parent Portal on Friday 16th December. This report will provide a thorough overview of your child's current achievement levels assessed against the Victorian Curriculum and future areas for improvement.

End of Year School Finishing Time

For your reference, our last day of school is Tuesday 20th December. The school day will finish at 1.30pm.

I look forward to finishing off the year on a positive note.

Take care.

Richard
