Deputy Matters

This year our Year 10 and 11 Wellbeing Ambassadors took part in weeklong leadership training through the Calibrate program. Students learned valuable life skills such as conflict resolution, reading body language, social cues and how to problem solve. They took part in teen coaching developing their social-emotional intelligence. The training also built up their leadership capacity, evaluated their flexibility, moral purpose, and teamwork skills. Training such as this is integral to our Wellbeing Ambassador program and ensures that we invest in our students lifelong learning. Students were then assessed on their learning and will receive their certificates of their achievement based on their results.

Training of Wellbeing Ambassadors will continue next year and students who were unsuccessful in their application to become an ambassador have other programs that they can join within the school community. Alternatively, they can reflect on feedback provided to develop their skills and apply in the future.

I would like to thank all our student leaders, our Wellbeing Ambassadors, for the immense positive contribution that they continue to make to our school community. Your leadership, upholding of our school’s values, courage and humanity and moral purpose is inspirational to all and has had a significant impact in creating a positive school culture. Thank you.

Year 11 have begun their Stage 6 course and have now completed one term of Year 12. There are only 3 terms of Year 12 left and I encourage students to utilise their time wisely as school will finish faster than anticipated. Students have made pleasing progress in Year 12. Make sure to keep up with your studies over the holidays in preparation for 2023. Thank you to all the Prefects, Wellbeing Ambassadors, Fundraising Committee and Year 12 students for being outstanding role models in our school. Your leadership, values and commitment to our community is greatly appreciated.

Year 8 have completed Stage 4 of their studies and will begin Stage 5 next year. They will be taking part in NAPLAN assessments in Term 1, 2023. It is imperative that students focus on their studies and always strive for excellence.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients this year. As part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning initiative students can aim to achieve substantive awards in recognition of upholding the school’s values of Academic Excellence, Respect, Equality and Safety next year. Students will need to demonstrate ongoing commitment to these values, contribute positively to their school community and/or a commitment to their studies.

Thank you to all of our wonderful students, staff, parents and carers and agencies that have worked with our school this year and contributed to our rich and diverse community.

I wish you all the best for upcoming holidays. May you have a lovely Christmas and wonderful New Year for 2023.
