KARI All-Rounder Winners! Mil-Pra AECG Regional Award Recipient!

Congratulations to our 2022 school captains and wellbeing ambassadors, Dylan Kao and Bethany Sykes, who have both been awarded this prestigious prize for being positive role models for other students throughout their time at our school. This outstanding achievement is very well-deserved, as both Dylan and Bethany have been instrumental in every single Aboriginal Cultural event celebrated at our school, both in the organisation and in the celebration. Both students encourage all students to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal culture, taking on leadership roles since they were in their junior years at our school.

We are so proud of everything they have achieved during their time with us at JBHS, and we are truly sad that we are losing two amazing students! Bethany and Dylan have been inspirational role models, going above and beyond during the course of their leadership. They have made such a wonderful impact on our staff and students, and we wish them a lifetime of success in their chosen careers.

Dylan and Bethany are truly inspirational leaders and role models and their dedication to our school, their culture and community is something in which we are most grateful. Their ongoing commitment and pride in their identity and sharing of Aboriginal culture with others is to be celebrated and commended. We are beyond proud of them both.

Congratulations, Bethany and Dylan. You are both such wonderful, inspirational individuals and we have been truly blessed to have had the pleasure to work alongside you. You have paved the way for others to follow your example, and my what big shoes you have left to fill.

But wait...

A massive congratulations to Dylan for also being a deserving recipient of the Mil-Pra AECG Regional Award. Only 3 students are selected by the steering committee to receive additional awards for outstanding achievement. Dylan was selected for this award after the committee read the nomination put forward by our Deputy Principal, Mrs Gouganovski. This nomination made it crystal clear to the committee that Dylan is an individual who goes above and beyond in his role as a leader and mentor. We had hope that our students would receive a prize when we put forward our nominations, but to receive such a prestigious award is such an achievement and an honour.

Well done, Dylan.
