Bonjour tout le monde,
C’est bientôt Noël!
Did you know that the French have a traditional cake they eat at Christmas called la bûche de Noël?
Here’s an easy ‘cooking’ idea for the holidays to get you in a French Christmas mood:
La Bûche de Noël
Ingredients
- Swiss roll (you can get this from the bakery section of your local supermarket or if you’re feeling virtuous then you could make it from scratch!)
- Chocolate butter icing (you could buy pre-prepared or make it yourself again)
- Spearmint jelly leaves
- Liquorice bullets/Flake chocolate
- Icing sugar for dusting
Method:
- Place the Swiss roll on a board
- Use a knife or spatula to cover the Swiss roll with chocolate butter icing
- Take a fork and run it gently along the icing to create a bark effect
- Stick a liquorice bullet on the top at one end to form a twig
- Place a spearmint leaf on either side of the twig
- Dust la bûche with icing sugar
Bon appétit!

Au revoir et merci Madame Robson
A message from Madame Robson
Bonjour les parents!
I wanted to let to let you know that I'm leaving CHPS at the end of the year. I've really enjoyed teaching your children over the past 6 1/2 years and will miss them a great deal.
One of my favourite times of the year is when the whole school gets together to sing the French Christmas song, ‘Quand le Père Noël’. As we haven’t been able to do that for the past couple of years, it gave me great joy to hear everyone singing it at the assembly last Thursday.
Here’s a link to the video in case you missed it, or would like to relive the moment! https://drive.google.com/file/d/17tXpv_8yScy_vhMn9Y0JC6YUsgEiG_V_/view?usp=sharing
I wish your children well in their language journey (French or otherwise) and hope you all have a wonderful and restful break.
Kind regards,
Sophie Robson (Madame Robson)
