Year 11 & 12 Parent and Student Night

Location: Mount Alvernia College, San Damiano
Details: This evening is intended to assist parents of Year 11 and 12 students understand what is required for success across Senior Pathways and how to reinforce College messages about high impact learning behaviours that result in positive outcomes. It is also intended to give parents a sense of what’s ahead each term, so that they have some predictability over the academic year and how to help navigate it. To confirm, this is an event for both parents and students to attend.
An Evening With Our College Counsellors: A Focus On Adolescent Wellbeing
Date: Thursday 16 February
Time: 5.45pm - 7.00pm
Location: Mount Alvernia College, Assisi Room
Details: Presented by our dedicated on-site College Counsellors, Mrs Jess Sexton and Mrs Kimberley Greene.
Jess and Kimberley are both registered Social Workers with nearly 20 years combined experience working across a variety of clinical areas including specialist child and youth mental health, trauma, and family interventions. They are committed to ensuring our students are heard, understood, and supported during the exciting and sometimes complex time of adolescence.
This parent session will focus on:
- Defining student well-being and its importance in academic success.
- Building a support system, including the role of parents/carers, teachers, and peers.
- The role of mental health support services and how to access them.
- Strategies for building resilience and coping with adversity.
Following the formal presentation there will be a short Q&A opportunity. Attendees are encouraged to submit their questions at time of registration. There will be a final opportunity to submit questions at the start of the evening. Please note, efforts will be made to answer as many questions as possible however we may be limited by time.

Parent Engagement Welcome Reception
Please join us for an evening of connection at our 2023 Parent Engagement Welcome Evening. This event will be hosted by members of College Leadership and Extended Leadership Teams, including Heads of House and our Parents and Friends Support Network (P&FSN). It is sure to be a fabulous evening to start our year together as a community.
