Stage 2 Geebungs

Excursion to Coorah

Coorah Excursion

On Monday, 3rd May, the Geebungs went on an excursion to the Senior School to learn about the history of Coorah. The students are focusing on ‘Changes in our Community’ and taking a close look at the changes that have occurred at our school is a great starting point. Mrs Plummer, our School’s Historian and Archivist, shared the rich history of Coorah with the students. We saw old uniforms, old letters from the boarders, old photos of Coorah with fields of daffodils and lots of School memorabilia.

The students also participated in an old-fashioned Handwriting lesson to learn about how education has changed over the years. The students were able to use nib pens with ink to try and write the alphabet. They found this extremely difficult and very messy. We also played some old-fashioned games such as quoits, marbles and hopscotch. This was a lot of fun and great for them to see how children were entertained in years gone by.

By the end of the excursion, the students seemed grateful that they get to grow up in the 2000s. Although the day was a lot of fun, they now have an appreciation of how lucky they are.
