Junior School

Happy Mothers’ Day to all our mums for this Sunday, mine included. The P & F ran a Mothers’ Day stall at each campus with a wonderful range of potential gifts for mothers and grandmothers, including those from local artisans. The P & F certainly had a busy week, operating a sausage sizzle also at each campus for Giving Day. We really appreciate the efforts of our volunteer parents in contributing to our School in such a way and in particular I would like to thank Sarah and Mark Rogers from Springwood and Magdalena Herceg and Bonnie Mamo from Wentworth Falls for pulling it all together.

NAPLAN

A reminder to parents of Years 3 and 5 children that next week the NAPLAN assessments are held from Tuesday onwards. It would be wise to make sure the children get to bed in plenty of time for a good sleep in order to do their best and arrive at school promptly, as we strive to undertake the assessments when the children are freshest in the morning. If you have any questions about NAPLAN please contact your child’s class teacher.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Zone

It has come to our attention recently that some parents are leaving their cars in this zone and coming into the building for a variety of reasons. This creates congestion and an unsafe environment for all.

Please:

  • Do not park in this zone. There is parking available in adjacent car parks and across Matcham Avenue, opposite the school.
  • Do not pull up on the other side of the driveway to let your child out. Please wait in the queue.
  • Ensure you do not obstruct the clearly marked crossing.
  • Do not leave your car other than to help your child load or unload his or her possessions.
  • Given the nature of congestion at pick up and drop off time, please be mindful of all families in our community and exit this zone as soon as your child has loaded or unloaded.

If we all observe these safety provisions it will help keep this zone safe and effective. Your cooperation is appreciated.

CIS Football Championships

Congratulations to the students who were members of the HICES team which participated in the CIS Football Championships last week.  The HICES team and two wins and two losses, finishing third in a very competition Pool.  Special thanks are extended to Ms Coralie van Wilder for driving the team to and from the competition, and delivering the uniforms.

Nude Food Week

Thank you to everyone who participated in Nude Food Week. We had close to 100 names entered into our competition.

We would like you to continue to have Nude Food lunchboxes because they are great for our environment. We can do more recycling at home and less rubbish at our School. The best prize is knowing that our environment is better for it.
