Learning and Teaching Update

'We aim to provide a school environment where ‘Every person can flourish and be known’ This means that our teaching program identifies the unique needs of each individual student, and delivers a learning program designed to grow them into the best person that they can be'.

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to Term 2!

It is so wonderful to have everyone back at school this term and I cannot help but feel grateful and thankful for being in the position we are today compared with the rest of the world!

The term has begun extremely well for all year levels. We have looked closely at the learning data from Term 1 to determine our students learning strengths and needs. We will be teaching students at the point of need and will monitor them closely through ongoing assessments as the term progresses.

There are many events this term across the school, one being the NAPLAN for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. While this Assessment does give us valuable data about how our students are doing compared with the rest of the country, it certainly is not the only form of assessment. Infact, our teachers work closely with students every day to monitor their learning, provide feedback and set learning goals together. It is this ongoing work that truly benefits our students and helps them achieve success.

At the end of this term we will be sending home the formal school report. This will be followed by student led three way conversations where the students will talk about their growth this year, and share their successes and future learning goals. It will also be an opportunity to discuss your child’s learning with the classroom teacher. We look forward to this in the last week of Term.

As always, please feel free to contact the classroom teachers or the leadership team should you have any questions about your child’s learning.

Stay well everyone.

Kind regards

Glennis Kerr
