Work in Progress Concert

The GSSC Music Department held our first concert at Westside on Monday 24th May. It was fantastic to see the support from all of the families and staff who were in attendance and the students did themselves proud.

Nearly all of the ensembles at the school performed on the night, demonstrating the hard work they’d been putting in throughout the year. Hopefully we’ll be able to get a few more concerts up and running in the not too distant future.

Following on from our successful concert this week, our new beginner students will be showing their progress at the Debut Concert on Thursday 24th June. This will take place in the presentation room at McGuire at 6pm.

NEVR Activities

I need to make a correction to the camp dates specified in the previous newsletter. The NEVR Music Camp in Beechworth will take place from September 7-9. This is a fun three days of music rehearsals and activities, with a concert for families to finish the camp. Bookings are open now and can be accessed online here.

Also, don’t forget the Band/Choir day on Tuesday 8th June, where students travel to Benalla to workshop some pieces of music with students from other NEVR schools and each ensemble then performs, for each other, at the end of the day. There is no cost for this day and buses will be provided to get students to and from the event. Ask your teacher for a permission slip if you are interested!
