Foundation:

Foundation students continued to develop their speaking skills and celebrated their learning effort by video-recording their answers to the roll question ‘Genki desu ka? (How are you?) in week 6. The students chose their answers from the four choices; ‘genki desu (I am fine)’, ‘genki ja nai desu (I am not well / not feeling good)’, ‘kanashii desu (I feel sad)’, and ‘pun pun desu (I am frustrated/angry)’. They have learnt these sentences with the help of the four monsters with different facial expressions. Some of them even added ‘sugoi (really/super)’ for emphasis. Excellent effort!

Year 1/2:

In week 5 and 6, Year 1 and 2 students continued to practise the eight modes of transport (‘kuruma (car)’, ‘basu (bus)’, ‘hikouki (airplane)’, ‘jitensha (bicycle)’, ‘densha (train)’, ‘aruki (walking)’, and ‘toramu (tram)’ with the actions and included those in the key sentence: ‘I get (there – destination) by (transport)’. To celebrate their learning, each student spoke the sentence with their choice of transport in front of the camera for recording. Fantastic effort!

Year 3/4:

During week 5 and 6, Year 3 and 4 students continued to develop their vocabulary relating to the Term 2 unit ‘Oishasan’ (At the doctor’s). They also practised the key sentence ‘(body part) ga itai desu (…. Is painful)’ and recorded their speaking when they are ready. They also enjoyed playing ‘Quizizz’ game to consolidate their vocabulary. Very well done!

Year 5/6:

In week 4, Year 5 and 6 students continued to practise the 3 key Hiragana rules; tenten, maru, and small ‘tsu’. They also focussed on the four at-the-door greetings; ‘ittekimasu (I’m leaving/see you later)’, ‘itterasshai (Have a good day/See you when you come back)’, ‘okaeri (Welcome home)’, and ‘tadaima (I’m home)’. The students consolidated those through a new, fun activity called ‘Blooket’. Hope you had lots of fun!
