Health & Physical Education

Foundation: Over the past two weeks, the Foundation Students have reverted to practising and refining their locomotor and fundamental motor skills. This was achieved through stationed activities which covered, hand eye coordination, throwing, kicking, moving through motion and balancing. The students were given different exercises over the two weeks and varying objects to enhance their skills and offer up different challenges to build confidence.

Level 1 & 2: The Level 1 students completed their second week of their Auskick style program. Once again we practised some of the fundamental skills involved with AFL e.g. handballing, kicking, marking, bouncing and gathering the ball.  In the second week of the learning block, students moved on to a different style of kicking which incorporated the sport soccer. The students worked on accuracy when making connection with the ball and aiming to knock down designated targets.

The Level 2 students began their exposure to athletics. In the first week, the students learnt what long jump entailed and the jumping and landing technique required to execute the jump. In the second week, students were given the opportunity to practise both discus and shot put. These two event required different throwing techniques. Students watched two YouTube clips to give them a visual demonstration of how to execute both types of throws.

Level 3 & 4: The Level 3 & 4 students commenced their four week Golf Sporting Schools Program. Students were exposed to some of the fundamental golf swings e.g. driving, chipping and putting. The students progressed through different stations incorporated each of the swings. In week two, the session scaffolded on the students learning from week 1. The swings were practised through different stations and had a big focus on accuracy.

Level 5 & 6: The Level 5 & 6 students commenced their four week Golf Sporting Schools Program. Students were exposed to some of the fundamental golf swings e.g. driving, chipping and putting. The students progressed through different stations incorporated each of the swings. In week two, the session scaffolded on the students learning from week 1. The swings were practised through different stations and had a big focus on accuracy.

District Cross Country: On Friday 21st May, 48 students from across the level 3-6 cohorts represented our school at the District Cross Country event at Crystalbrooke Park. Congratulations to all of these students.

Firstly, I would like to say how proud we are of all the students on the way they conducted themselves in a respectful and responsible manner over the entire day. A big thanks to the parent volunteers and supporters on the day too.
