ART - Reconcilliation Week

BAYSIDE CITY COUNCIL ELLEN JOSE ART PRIZE

DRUM ROLL PLEASE...

Black Rock Primary School students across the school were invited to participate in the Ellen Jose Awards and National Reconciliation Week. Ellen Hose was a long-time resident and Torres Strait Elder who sadly passed away in 2017. The Art Bursary was created to recognise her contribution to the arts and bringing awareness to reconciliation.

59 students from Foundation to Year Six spent their time over a number of recess and lunch breaks, and some even used their own time at home to create some phenomenal pieces of artwork! Their design needed to represent 'What Reconciliation means through your eyes?' and WOWSER did they showcase their talents!!!

Out of 170 entries Black Rock Primary took a massive 5 positions in the finalists out of only 10 awarded.
