News Update

The students of Molong Central School are currently completing a variety of activities, ranging from Cross Country in the lower year groups, to the MCS Fitness Testing Talent Search in Years 9 and 10. The Senior SLR classes are both completing the topics Games and Sports Application 1 and 2 and have enjoyed participating in a variety of ‘obscure’ sports such as croquet, freeze, offside touch and kubb, as well as some of our more traditional sports such as league-tag and basketball. They have also designed numerous defensive and offensive plays for a variety of specific sports and activities.

11 SLR completed an Administration assessment which required them to assist in the running of a specific event at the annual Secondary Athletics Carnival. They all prepared themselves exceptionally well and completed their duties in a motivated and diligent manner.

Years 9 and 10 PASS are working their way through a variety of topic areas, with the 9 PASS group currently preparing for their group presentation on a specific skill delivery to the rest of the class. 10 PASS have been studying the module Enhancing Performance and have been developing a variety of modified games and activities ranging from younger athletes to people with disabilities and the elderly.

The Senior Preliminary and HSC classes have been working steadily completing their Cores and Options. Year 11 have just started First Aid and have been practising their CPR skills in different scenarios. They have been working hard and should be proud of their efforts. Year 12 have just finished completing their 5-week training programs. The effort they have put in has been great and they have achieved a wide variety of different goals. Both classes have been practising their written skills using Edrolo for set homework.

Our Tom Kemp Rugby League side will take on Nyngan in an upcoming round match with the winner to advance through to the semi finals later next term. This is a particularly competitive tournament and one which we will monitor with interest in the coming weeks.

The annual ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ against St Mary’s Wellington will take place in the final week of this term. This competition has been running for almost 10 years and focuses on skill development in our younger students. This year will see 6 teams compete in touch football, league-tag, and basketball.

The Central Schools Knockouts have recently been re-introduced to the sporting calendar after Covid intervened in 2020, forcing the cancellation of the entire event. MCS will be participating in all forms of the competition, which cover junior and senior netball, junior and senior boys and girls touch football, lawn bowls, cricket and junior and senior rugby league 7’s. Molong has a proud history in this competition where we have managed to win quite a number of State titles. Let’s hope 2021 is a successful year for our students.
