Parent Evening - Anxiety and Adolescence

An informative evening for all parents and guardians
Northcote High School’s Student Services Team warmly invite our Parents and Guardians to attend an information session on Anxiety and Adolescence. The NHS community are fortunate to have Dr Katie Wood BBSc. (Hons.), Phd (Clinical), LaTrobe present to us once again.
Katie is a senior lecturer and clinical psychologist at Swinburne University of Technology. She is the Course Director for the Master of Counselling and Master of Clinical Psychology Programs at Swinburne. She also teaches clinical psychology and counselling trainees. She earned her PhD at LaTrobe University and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists. Previously, Katie worked at Albert Road Centre for Health where she was the team leader of an adolescent day program. She has also worked at Eastern Health Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. Katie has been in private practice for over 20 years, specialising in working with young people, their families and schools.
Presentation overview:
This talk will focus on anxiety during adolescence. This is a time of change for young people and with change, many can experience anxiety about friends, school, and family life. We will look closely at the signs of anxiety, and some of the strategies to manage it from a parenting perspective.
