Deputy Principal's Report
2020 Student Leadership Nominees
Over the past couple of weeks, our Year 11s have been given the opportunity to apply to be school leaders in 2020. The first step was to complete an application form, which was closely followed by an interview process. After the interviews, the students were shortlisted and then given the opportunity to speak to the student body. Once this process had been completed, voting opened and, in due course, our school leaders will be determined. In the weeks following, a similar process will be undertaken to determine House Leaders, with our House Vice-Captains, who will come from the Year 10 cohort, being selected in Term 4.
I would have to say that, based on the process up until the end of the speeches, that we have a very strong field of candidates. The positions of school leadership up for selection are:
The application and interview process made shortlisting particularly difficult; the speeches to the staff and students were outstanding. Not only moving, they showed young women prepared to lead; they spoke with passion, commitment and drive. Every girl who has applied has legitimate claims to a position through their actions and I am confident that those students who are successful will lead the school well next year. Nevertheless, as a place of learning, it is the skills developed through the process and the role modelling provided by these girls that will allow PCW girls to go on and become leaders beyond 2020. We wish them all the best on their journey.
