From the Principal's desk

It was great to welcome all the children back to school this week. The children have settled into their classes and I can already see excellent learning taking place. We welcome to our school our new staff: Jedd Wright (12W), Penny Naish (12N), Ella Duke (Trainee) and Jordyn Smith in the school office. We also have Sarah Lawrence (Speech Pathologist) joining us for one day a week.  We welcome back Sue Herlihy and Faye Homes who will be working with us two days a week as part of the teacher tutor learning initiative. Sue and Faye will work intensely with students who did not grow at the expected rate last year.

Welcome to our new Preps! I took the opportunity to catch up with them after recess and was interested to find that after I asked them to guess who I might be and hinted that my role might be very important in the school the suggestions were: the person who rings the bell, the person who looks after the library, Debbie, the lady in the office..... And they were less than impressed to find out I was really just the principal! Anyway, below are some first-day snaps of their eager little faces.

Next week our school begins our School Review which is held every four years. During the review the leadership team, a department appointed reviewer, a regional senior education improvement leader, and two principals from other schools, closely examine our school data, policies, etc.  Following this, a report is presented back to the school staff and school council which then sets the strategic direction for the school for the next four years. I will endeavor to keep our community updated as the review proceeds.

Here's to a great 2021 and I look forward to catching up with everyone as the year progresses.
