Students Thriving

From Little Things Big Things Grow!

Exciting news for former Warrnambool College student Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, after being selected by the Western Bulldogs with pick one in the AFL Draft.

Jamarra began his journey at Warrnambool College in 2015 in Year 7 in the Flagstaff House. Then in 2017 in preparation for year 9, he made his way to Scotch College in Melbourne and completed his final years and graduated in 2020. We as a college, and those that taught Jamarra remember a shy and quiet student as he began to find his feet in the big new world of secondary school. It wasn’t long until he found his voice and place within his House and amongst his peers. From very early on, Jamarra demonstrated great respect for people around him and most importantly for his friends both at school and in the sporting community throughout the Warrnambool community. On the sporting field, Jamarra represented the college at a Local, District and State Level in a range of sports. He also represented the Bullants and Clontarf Academies in football and basketball. There was no doubt that when he left us in 2017, he was destined for great things. As a school community we are very proud to have been a part of this incredible journey. In a special way, Jamarra never left the Class of 2020 as his friends made sure he was never forgotten, even inviting himself back to the college on occasions and even suggesting we add him to the graduation evening last week. We wish him the very best for an amazing sporting career with the Western Bulldogs Football Club and beyond! Oh the places you’ll go!

Congratulations to Matilda Allen, a year 10 Warrnambool College student, who has been recognised for her hard work and dedication to acrobatics and circus performance. Matilda has won a competition to be mentored by Cirque Du Soleil directors, Celebrity Circus judges & Emmy winners. This is an absolutely amazing achievement and opportunity. Well done Matilda.
