Clontarf Academy

The Clontarf Academy’s Annual Awards Night Celebration was held recently at the Lady Bay resort. It was a fantastic evening, and a wonderful celebration and culmination of the year, albeit in unique circumstances due to COVID-19 restrictions. This didn’t take away from celebrating some special moments throughout the year and capturing various events and activities that Academy boys were a big part of throughout the course of 2020.

The Warrnambool Academy had a record five Year 12 graduates this year - an outstanding achievement for the young men during such a year filled with adversity, uncertainty and change. Our Year 12 graduates along with our eight award winners were joined by a parent or special member of their family, principal and selected teaching staff from both Warrnambool and Brauer College, local Indigenous Elder Uncle Locky Eccles, our most recent alumni member in Jordan Gould, and Ben Djuve (Victorian RM) and Aiden Yelland (Victorian EO) who were able to visit Warrnambool for the week after an extended period of time in Melbourne lockdown.

The Year 12s and our award winners all spoke brilliantly and thanked the special people in their lives for the support and care in helping them along the journey. Special mention must go to Zane Turner (Year 10) and Nelson Anders (Year 9) who were given the responsibility of being Master of Ceremonies for the evening and did a fine job.

Award winners included:

  • Year 12 graduates: Sam Morris, Trent Hrabar, Joel Campbell, Tori Miller, & Jordan Chivers
  • Attendance Award: Max McInnes & Jailon Jenkins (99% attendance in 2020)
  • Education Award: Trent Hrabar
  • Respect and Integrity Award: Sam Morris
  • Training and Games Award: Jyah Chatfield & Kayden Edwards
  • Leadership Award: Joel Campbell
  • Clontarf Champion: Jordan Chivers

We were fortunate to have the team from FitzMedia capture the evening. Please access this link to view the presentation: https://f.io/T5K0Xo_u

We also held an end of year celebration with members of the academy who were unable to attend the Awards due to COVID-19 restrictions. This allowed us to present some ‘Most Improved’ awards and ‘Best Remote Learning’ awards and enjoy a slideshow of our best photos of 2020.

Finally, a big thank you to all boys and their families, school staff and partners for their ongoing support as we navigated our way through the year. We look forward to 2021 and many more ongoing opportunities and activities for our Clontarf Academy boys.
