Sports Day @ COHR

It was fantastic to finally celebrate one of the highlights of any year at COHR - our School Sports Day last Friday. The weather was perfect!

Due to the ongoing restrictions, no parents were on site and the students completed their events in three separate year groups at three different times over the day. Preparations were made the night before including the track lines being painted, thanks to David Florio Lorise (Florio children's grandfather) and David Bortoli.

On the day our 8 Sports Team Leaders were busy all day organizing races, giving out ribbons, cheering their teams on and of course leading their team chants. Thanks must also go to the extra students who helped out on the day, giving out ribbons and helping at the scoring table and the teachers who encouraged and helped by ensuring everyone was at the right place to participate in all the fun.

As always our ever dedicated and spirited Sports teacher - Ms Sue Tobin was organising, cheering, encouraging and celebrating throughout the whole day. Her work certainly makes this day the success it always is. Due to the events running all the way until the final bell - the announcement of results was held off until Tuesday - Ms Tobin's next day at COHR.

On Tuesday we held a special assembly, sitting not in our class groups but our four colour teams. Each team performed their team chant and the both the Spirit Award and the overall points winner of the House Sport Award was announced.

The winner of the 2020 Spirit Award was Blue Kinnaird Team and Amelie and Gianluca, Blue Team Captains gave the following speech.

Thank you to the Blue Team for working hard and supporting each other. Encouraging and trying your best to get where we are. The whole of Blue Team has done a great job this term to achieve where we have gotten.

Thank you to all the students for all the hard work last Friday. We appreciate it so much! Despite this year we have not been able to go to school and not been able to do as many sports as we usually do, we all tried our best throughout the day and got to where we are now. We truly appreciate so much thank you.

Then the winner of the 2020 overall House Sports Award was announced. The winner was Green Slattery Team! As the Green House Captains Daniel and Issi gave this speech.

First Issi and I would like to thank someone very special who has made our time at COHR fantastic. Thank you Ms Tobin for always organising Sports Day the best you can and always trying to make it run as smoothly as you can make it. We would also like to thank the students and teachers that were helping out on Sports Day. We would like to thank the other captains for their great sportsmanship and support.

We would like to congratulate the other teams for their really good effort and always trying their best in every race. Thanks you everyone for what you did and all your efforts. We would like to thank the Green Team a lot for running and trying their best to help the Green Team get where we are.

Go Green!!!!!!
