Year 11 Visual Design

At the start of Term 4 Year 11 Visual Design were given the task to design a chair with a chosen theme by the student. The task called for 3D items to be attached to the chair as well as appropriate decoration. Malcolm is creating a 'cow' chair, Leah's chair is based on show 'Outer Banks', and Marnie's chair is Luke Comb's themed. The chairs these students have produced are fantastic!!

Technical & Applied Studies (TAS)

This week sees our students completing their final practical sessions for the year. Many will take home or already have taken home completed projects and work from Technology Mandatory, Industrial Technology Metal and or Timber, Food Technology, Music and Visual Arts classes.

I would like to pass on our thanks from all the staff in the Technical & Applied and Creative Arts faculties to all the students who have worked hard to complete all their projects over some very challenging times this year.

Next year will hopefully see a year without time away from the workshops and classrooms due to COVID and allow all involved to complete a full range of learning and demonstrations of this learning through the many and varied projects and tasks completed in our practical sessions.

Please enjoy the photos of some of the work completed this year by Boorowa Central School students.

STEM EXPO 2020

Last Friday Stages 4 and 5 put on a display of the hard work and passion they had put into their Big Sky Thinking plus other projects they had worked on throughout the year. It was an outstanding success with the entire school in the hall to hear and see all the projects the students had completed and also try out some interactive activities put on by the Stage 5 STEM class. The secondary student's interactions with our primary students were remarkable, explaining their ideas and being very patient with them as they tried out their different skills on various challenges. The primary students had a ball flying drones, driving robots, building catapults as well as seeing all the games, toys and projects the secondary students have been working on.

Big Sky Thinking students in Stage 4 were given the challenge of making up a new game or toy. Stage 5 students had to complete a passion project.

Some examples from Stage 4 were new themed card games like World War I UNO or a new and improved Twister. Some Stage 5 students organised events like Clean Up Australia Day or designed new touch football jerseys for the school. We hope to share more details of these projects in the coming weeks.

We look forward to hopefully being able to show off similar ideas in 2021 and welcome our community in the doors to see the brilliant work our students are doing. We know you would have been very proud of the innovation and work our students put in.
