From the Foundation Classrooms

In the Foundation Classroom

Last week the Foundation children have continued to enjoy exploring their classrooms and expand their friendship circle. They have been practising writing the letter Ss, learning its sound and brainstorming words that begin with this letter. The children have also been practising counting by 1s, from 1 to 20  and have learnt to play a counting game called 'Pigeon Count'. They have made some covers for their work books, read the picture story book called 'Elmer' by David McKee and discussed their favourite parts in the story. After they read the story of Elmer they were given a colour by number activity where they had to identify numbers from 1 to 7 and colour each number accordingly.

One of the highlights of Week 3 was when the Foundation children went to their first Care, Learn and Share (CLaS) group. During CLaS sessions, students participate in a variety of activities based around social, emotional and community themes.  They met their CLaS teacher and the other children  who make up this group. The next CLaS session will take place on Thursday afternoon in Week 5.
