Specialist Program

Music- Justin Hall

Students in Upper Primary have put in some amazing work on instrumental skills, composition skills and digital music skills this term.  Forming class bands with keyboards, bass guitar and drums / percussion, students tackled the Marshmello song ‘Happier’.  Despite a long break from playing instruments, the results were fantastic.  Composition has also been explored using digital music technologies, in this case the application ‘Garageband’.  Students composed melodies, harmonies (through smart keyboard tools) and learnt how to use a sampler to create their own sounds.

Food Technology- Jane Stacey

This Term we moved in to the new Food Technology Centre and were so excited to use the new space! Students travelled around the world this term and tried a foods from the Middle East, Sri Lanka, South Africa, UK, Greece, Indonesia, Italy and Australia. We chose these countries based on the background of some of the students in the Upper Primary section. Many of the students loved making their own flatbread to eat with their homemade dip. All students will finish the term with a special treat of homemade biscuits that they can decorate and take home to share with their families.

Visual Arts - Vera Mitchell

In Visual Art this term we explored Dutch artist, Vincent Van Gogh. We looked at his techniques and themes as well as understanding the difference between foregrounds, middle ground and backgrounds. Some of the art work was developed around collage after viewing his work.
