Teaching and Learning

Next week students in Years 7-9 will start their End of Year Program.

This program has been designed to provide a range of experiences both inside and outside the classroom, providing students with the opportunity to engage in a variety of engaging and fun activities.

Year 7 and 8 Program

Students in Years 7 and 8 attended an assembly on Wednesday where they were provided with a copy of their End of Year program. Students have been grouped into multi-age house groups and will cycle through a program of activities. Parents have been emailed an Operoo (Caremonkey) letter to provide consent for their child to participate in the activities scheduled off-site.

Activities that the year 7 and 8 students will be involved in include:

* Aqua Island Water Park, Moama (half-day)

* Barmah Field Trip, including a Kingfisher Cruise on the Barmah Lakes (half-day)

* Murray Life Adventures, outdoor adventures, Torrumbarry (full-day)

* Viewing The Social Dilemma. (Rated M). - permission required.

Students will need to be in sports uniform for the activities. Bathers and a towel are required for Aqua Island. Students must also have a Sun Smart hat with them on all days. For the Barmah, Aqua Island and Murray Life trips students will need a fully packed lunch/snacks for the day and a water bottle.

Year 9 Program

The Year 9 End of Year program is an exciting and engaging program that allows Year 9 students to have meaningful interactions with their peers and the staff of St Joseph’s College, and participate in outdoor activities that they may not have had the opportunity to participate in in the past.

The week will start with a Personal Best reflection day allowing students to showcase their projects that they have been working on throughout 2020, as well as discuss career pathways and adjust their cover letters and resumes that they have been developing throughout the year.

On Tuesday 1st December and Monday 7th December, Year 9 students will participate in a range of activities that get them out of the classroom and active in their local community. They will participate in activities such as Aqua Island Water Park, Murray River Fishing, Meditation and Journaling, Murray River Paddleboarding, Next Level - Gym Fitness, Rich River Golf, Mountain Bike Ride - Echuca East Tracks, Murray River Canoeing and Postcard Art.

Year 9 students will then head to Eildon for their Year 9 camp which will allow students to step out of their comfort zones in a challenge-by-choice situation and continue to strengthen relationships within their year level. Students will once again be participating in outdoor based activities allowing them to connect with nature and have fun.

On the final Tuesday of school Year 9 students will join in with the Year 7 and 8 students for a House challenge day aiming to win as many points for their House as possible.

The last day of school for students in Years 10 and 11 is Friday 4th December and for students in Years 7-9 is Wednesday 9th December 2020.
