What a start! Welcome to our Year 7 and other new students and welcome back to all who are returning. We look forward to supporting you throughout your journey of learning.
Subject changes and Assessment Planners
The start of year is quite hectic as we all settle into the 2021 school year; timelines have been set to ensure that all students are appropriately placed in their classes by the end of week 2. It was important that all students adhered to these timelines.
The last date for subject changes was FRIDAY 5th FEBRUARY. Students were all aware of this cut-off date for subject changes; educationally it is not desirable for students to be moving classes after this date as it can quite adversely affect their results. Parents, please ensure you are aware of your child’s subjects; some changes have occurred.
It is expected that all students complete the full course of study that they have chosen:
Year 7 and 8 rotational electives | – 1 term duration |
Year 9 electives | – 1 semester minimum duration |
Year 10 electives | – Full year duration |
Year 11 and 12 subjects | – Two years duration |
Assessment planners have been provided to all parents and students; we encourage parents to be aware of key assessment dates and to assist their child in managing their time. Organisation is a key to success.
Academic Assembly
In Week 3, we held our Assembly of Excellence, we were given the opportunity to congratulate our students who excelled academically in their chosen subjects during Semester 2, 2020. Whilst this assembly recognises the top students in each cohort, it is also an opportunity for all students to reflect on their own learning behaviours and how they are contributing to their continual improvement. Our Dux for 2019, Madelyn Oxford, returned to share her thoughts life after school and how she has ensured her continued success. We also had the opportunity to congratulate our high achievers from the 2020 graduating class with students, who attained an ATAR 90+, in attendance. Our Dux for 2020 is Mitchell Cooper, congratulations to him on a great ATAR, 99.20.
Congratulations to the following students who received a Certificate of Academic Excellence:

Independence and the student…
School is preparation for life and to that end we encourage students to be independent and to take ownership of their learning. If your student has concerns regarding any aspect of their education; your first step could be to encourage them to address their concerns directly with the relevant person. It can be quite empowering for an individual to manage their own concerns.
Obviously, there may be times when it is not appropriate for a student to deal directly and in this instance, we would encourage parents to contact the school for guidance.
Thanks
