Victorian School Sports Award: Jack Carr

For a generation, the Victorian School Sports Awards have represented the most prestigious sporting accolades in Victoria’s government school system. On Thursday 14th March Staughton College alumni Jack Carr was presented with the Sporting Blue for Swimming at the MCG by Steve Moneghetti, one of the champions of Australian sport. It wouldn’t surprise anyone ifJack achieves his goal of representing Australia at the Olympics.
While competing at the School Sport Australia Championships in Hobart in 2018, Jack won 14 medals after previously cleaning up five golds at the Victorian School Championships. In addition, Jack medalled at numerous school sporting competitions at state and national levels.
In honour of the seven time Olympian and Basketball Hall of Fame legend, the Lindsay Gaze Outstanding Sports Leadership Award was introduced in 2015. The Lindsay Gaze Award is presented to a student, player, coach or administrator who demonstrates outstanding contribution to sport at both a school and community level. The 2018 recipient of this award was announced on the day, and we are extremely proud to say that the award went to Jack. Jack was acknowledge as an exceptional role model, mentor and valued leader, as well as a sought-after captain for state and school swim teams.
Jack now join the honour roll of previous winners, many of whom have gone on to represent Australia on an international stage at Olympic and Commonwealth Games and World Junior and Senior Championships. Congratulations!
