Principal's Report

When I was appointed Acting Principal for the remainder of 2020 late last term, I was confident that two things would get us through our period of remote learning together:

• The professionalism and dedication of our staff, from our excellent teachers, to our thoughtful Education Support staff and the fantastic school leaders who I am blessed to work with each and every day
• Our diligent and enthusiastic students, who I knew would embrace this challenge, find the positives, and support one another.

I haven’t been wrong on either prediction so far!

This newsletter is not the same as usual. Due to COVID-19, there aren’t the usual number of reports of student excursions, camps, guest speakers and extracurricular activities. What you will see are our student leaders taking the initiative to put together activities to engage with one another, to promote inclusion and wellbeing. I commend our Middle School and Senior School Student Executive teams on the ‘Connections Calendar’ challenge they have put together in this newsletter, as well as the weekly Zumba lessons you will also read about. I know these leaders have more in store during this term!

Finally, please note the changes to the MGC Information Night and Open Day reflected in the Important Dates section of this newsletter. Our Office and IT staff have been working hard to bring these events to life for 2020 in a virtual way, which is so important for those families considering MGC for 2021. We’ve also found a way for our students to be involved in the upcoming virtual tour as well. This is pleasing because our Public Relations Captains and Junior Ambassadors are always the best advertisement for our school at these events.
